Although nearly 7 million people visit the Vatican Museums each year, few realize that there is much more to this extraordinary collection than just the four Raphael Rooms and the Sistine Chapel. This video lecture will examine often-overlooked, but by no means less amazing, collection of paintings in the Pinacoteca, or "painting gallery," of the Vatican Museums, which includes works by Giotto, Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio, and Bernini.
