Although not as famous as many other Renaissance paintings, the Holy Trinity by Masaccio might just be the most important painting in Florence, and is one of the most important of all time. The reason is that it was the first painting to ever apply a technology known as linear or single-point perspective. Suddenly, painting no longer just looked three-dimensional, it was three-dimensional!!!
