Dr. Nicholas Albanese

Ana Maria de Jesus Ribeiro de Silva – better known as Anita Garibaldi – has been commemorated as one of the most well-known heroines of the Italian Risorgimento. Her story is indelibly tied to that of her husband, the Italian patriot, Giuseppe Garibaldi, who she met and fought at his side during his exile in South America. Theirs is a story of passion: for freedom, for revolution, and for each other. In this presentation, I will talk about Anita’s life and role as a revolutionary in one of the most famous and romanticized love stories of the modern age.
