In 1502, the then Cardinal Francesco Piccolomini Todeschini, soon to become Pope Pius III, commissioned the artist Pinturicchio to paint the walls of the recently constructed library with scenes from the life of his famous uncle, Pope Pius II. Pinturicchio called his friend and former workshop colleague, Raphael, to Siena to help him execute the frescoes. The result was one of the most beautiful painting cycles of the Renaissance. Join Dr. Rocky for this webinar where he will examine the magnificent paintings that adorn the Piccolomini Library in Siena Cathedral.
