Dr. Rocky Ruggiero
Join Dr. Rocky for an extraordinary pop-up webinar of one of the greatest Caravaggio exhibitions ever! Of the 24 masterpieces on display, 9 are on loan from foreign museums, and 5 from the US. Many of the paintings are returning to Rome and/or the Palazzo Barberini for the first time in centuries! From the revolutionary “Cardsharps” to the in-house “Judith Beheading Holofernes” to the recently discovered “Taking of Christ” all the way to Caravaggio’s last painting “The Martyrdom of St. Ursula” includes works from throughout Caravaggio’s entire career. Particular attention will be given to Caravaggio’s lost and controversial “Portrait of Maffeo Barberini” which was “rediscovered” in the 20th century and displayed for the first time this year. If you are heading to the show, this will be a great way to prepare, and if you can’t make it to the show, you can still enjoy it virtually!
